Campus Career Day 2017

Are you in the middle of your PhD or Postdoc and planing the next steps of your career path? This years Campus Career Day focuses on the myriad of fulfilling careers in academia. And if you easily dismiss the field of academia due to the work required of and glory accompanying being a Professor, join anyways, as there are many careers distinctly different from Professors in academia.
If you want aid in your decision process or are curious about positions in academia, you're welcome to join us for a day filled with various events featuring a broad spectrum of speakers from different positions in academia, including a plenay discussion, small group discussions, and meals with the speakers.
Please register for the Campus Career Day, especially if you want to join the speakers for dinner (spots are limited!).
Helke Hillebrand
Academic Manager at the University of Heidelberg
Helke is a highly experienced project manager trained as a life sciences scientist. She has more than 19 years of professional experience post-PhD, including two and a half years at a German University; nine years in a global industrial player and eight years in an intergovernmental European research institute. She specializes in working with multidisciplinary international teams in the areas of scientific coordination and cooperation, technology management, higher education, and professional communication.
Ignacio Rubi Somoza
Group Leader at the Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics – CRAG
After his postdoc at Weigelworld (Dpt. Molecular Biology, MPI for Developmental Biology, Tübingen), Ignacio started his own research group funded by the Ramon y Cajal program in 2015 . His core research interest is the intersection between the regulation of genetic programs controlling plant development and defense to pathogens.
Katja Schenke-Layland
Professor at the University of Tübingen Medical School
Katja wears many hats within her interdisciplinary work: professor at the University of Tübingen Medical School, executive director and department head at Fraunhofer IGB Stuttgart, executive editor of the Elsevier journal Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, and adjunct associate professor at the University of California.
Manuela Bacarini
Core Facility Manager Biocenter Vienna
Manuela has rich experience in medical biology throughout Europe, including a postdoc at the MPI for Immunology in Freiburg. She is now a full professor at the Center for Molecular Biology and Deputy Director of Max. F. Perutz Laboratories at the University of Vienna. Her lab aims to decipher the roles of key components involved in signaling pathways that result in developmental disorders. She has also served as chair on an ERC Advanced Investigator Grants panel.
