Friday Beer Hour

When having received an amusing e-mail, you know that it's time for the next beer hour! As a start into the weekend we meet every Friday at 5 p.m. on the terrace or inside the DevBiol building to review recent gossip on a more or less scientific level. These discussions are enhanced by good German beer, free juice and pretzels. Join us this week!

PhD Party

Twice a year, after the PhD course, the first-year students have the honor of organizing a party for all PhD students at the institute. There are always food, drinks and music, but the details are up to the group that has just survived the PhD course together. Let's get wild!

When the days are getting longer and it is getting warmer outside (yes, this can happen in Germany!) the PhD students meet for a BBQ get-together at the barbecue pit behind the Max Planck House. A fantastic opportunity to meet your PhD fellows and to socialize!

M.O.V.I.E. Night

To improve the social atmosphere on campus, we organize regular convivial events. Therefore, we have monthly get-togethers to watch a funny/scary/dramatic/action-packed/... movie in the lecture hall of the Max Planck house. Everybody on campus is very welcome to join!

Campus Summer Party

Once every other year in summer is the time that we celebrate! And everyone's family is welcome to join in. Here's all you need for a good party: scientific games for young and old, cake and coffee, ice cream, BBQ, beer and wine, cocktails, live music and tours of the labs for those who want to know where and what we work on.

Stocherkahnfahren (Punting) on the Neckar

From time to time, the PhD students get together in summer to spend an evening on the Neckar. You've probably already seen the flat boats that are being propelled by long, wooden sticks: the Stocherkahn. This experience is unique to Tübingen and is mandatory (at least once) for every student!
The boats seat up to 14 people and can be rented either from the Verkehrsverein (including a professional punter) or, if you can find an experienced student from Tübingen in your group, for a small fee e.g. from the Medical Student Society (Fachschaft Medizin). You can even bring a portable grill and a crate of beer! Have fun!
