Welcome to our International PhD Program

Under the auspices of the University of Tübingen, more than 80 students from all over the world are working on their PhDs at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology and the Friedrich Miescher Laboratory. Here, they profit from an interdisciplinary environment and first-rate scientific resources. Dedicated support and a plethora of courses and workshops foster the growth of our doctoral students.   • Our annual PhD Student Symposium will take place on November 21 and 22, 2018 at the Max Planck House. Our alumni speaker will be Andre Koch from the University Clinic Tübingen.
  • Ten new PhD students are taking part in the 2018 IMPRS/PhD Introductory Course.

  • The annual TIPP Retreat took place on June 21-23, 2018 at beautiful Kloster Heiligkreuztal, an hour's drive from our institute. More than 25 students were joined by 4 guest speakers to discuss science and life as a scientist.

  • On 30th of April 2018, Eliza Izaurralde, the long-term director of the International PhD Program passed away. We mourn for a passionate supporter of graduate students and a great scientist.
